Nestled among the trees lies one of the most comforting and inviting neighborhoods in the area, Lake of the Woods.

As the name suggests, this lush suburban paradise houses two lakes within its approximate 2600 acres; with 4,260 lots of which 850 are lake frontage.


Location is everything, and you’ll find that Lake of the Woods is perfectly situated 20 minutes from Fredericksburg and Culpeper, and approximately 60 miles from DC, NOVA, Richmond and Charlottesville.

Welcome to the Main Lake

The Main Lake stretches across 500 acres with two marinas, seven various access points and eight sand beaches that would make any ocean jealous.
Keaton’s lake, which is commonly referred to as the Fishing Lake is a 35-acre impoundment with one public launch area, and one sand beach.
If you prefer to swim in a pool instead of a lake, you’ll find that Sweetbriar Pool and the new Clubhouse Pool are open to all residents, and kids will love the built-in water works.

You’ll find that everything you need is within 3 miles from the front gate; including restaurants, post office, library, CVS, Walmart & much more! If the lakes alone aren’t enough to tantalize you, the amenities that LOWs offers are sure to make you want to check them out for yourself!
Having been founded as a residential/recreational community, the amenities that Lake of the Woods offers are designed to keep you active both socially and recreationally within the community.
Everything starts when you first arrive, as you are greeted with 24/hour security both on and off the lake.

Volunteer Fire & Rescue

With a desire to keep you safe and sound, a fire and rescue company is on location should the need ever arise.
The Lake of the Woods Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. provide round-the-clock fire and medical transport services for the community and northeastern Orange County.
There are many different paths that are made available for use within Lake of the Woods, include ones that are specific for walking, walking and biking, and for hiking. It is recommended that you always walk facing the traffic, and to always bike with traffic.

Welcome to the Golf Course!

Considered the prize of the community, the 18-hole PGA course runs through the center of the neighborhood, with no adjoining fairways. The course is 71 par, and designed with sand traps, water hazards, and a fair amount of slopes.

4 tees are available at each hole, allowing accommodation for all levels of play. USGA as well as local rules govern all play, and maintenance is maintained is comprehensive and is performed year-round in order to keep the course in the upmost playing condition.

Equestrian Center

The Equestrian Center is located on Talley Ho Lane, and is open for pony rides, trail rides and lessons by appointment year-round, being weather permitted.

The facilities consist of 1 covered schooling ring, 1 show ring, 2 wash stalls, 2 barns with a stall count of 21, 2 feed rooms, 5 dry lock paddocks and 2 tack rooms.

All lesson horses & ponies are LOWA owned, and services include Private as well as group lessons, guided trail rides and pony rides.
A new fitness center opened in June of 2019, and is eligible for registered tenants, LOWA members, and members of their households that have signed the waiver, Fitness Center Amenity Form Agreement, and paid the annual or temporary usage fees.

Pickleball & Tennis

There are six outdoor pickleball courts four tennis courts, all of which are located in Hollyfield Park. All pickleball courts are lighted, with two tennis courts being lighted as well. The other two tennis courts are soft surface courts without any lights. The courts are open daily from 7 AM – 11 PM. There is one indoor Pickleball court as well, which is located in the LOW Community Center and is open from 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 7:30 AM – 3 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Fareways Cafe

Fareways Café is the local casual, friendly dining place inside Lake of the Woods located at 108 Fairway Dr, Locust Grove, VA 22508 (right next to the golf course). The café is open Monday through Sunday with a menu that changes each quarter.

They have rooms available to reserve for private parties and Fareways is a host to many game nights, trivia nights, and even karaoke!

There's fun to be had and plenty of food to be eaten here at the Fareways café!
The Clubhouse is located at 205 Lake of the Woods Parkway; and is open for Brunch on Sundays from 10 AM to 1 PM, Lunch on Saturday & Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM, and Dinner is available on Wednesday and Sunday from 5 PM to 9 PM, and Thursday, Friday & Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM.

There are several amenities that are offered at the Clubhouse. These include a Grill Room which serves a more casual dining experience that is perfect for friends and family, the Club Room which is more of a formal dining setting, perfect for special occasions.
